What should I do if my employer assaulted me at work?
Out of rage, my employer struck me in the face at work. There has been similar behavior in the past. The police were called and a report was filed. The officers said that the charges would likely stick. Should I seek some sort of civil action against my employer as well? Would I need an employment lawyer or a personal injury lawyer for a case like this?

I am so sorry to hear that you suffered such abusive behavior at your workplace. While assault, battery, and infliction of emotional distress are likely claims based on being hit, you may also have employment claims such as unlawful harassment and unlawful retaliation against your employer, depending on the surrounding circumstances. I would definitely recommend consulting an employment law attorney regarding your case as soon as possible.

You definitely should seek legal counsel. Normally , injuries at work caused by work are limited to workers comp. However, I believe that there are some actions such as this that may be civily prosecuted in regular civil vcourt. Suggest you see attorney who handles both and speak to the attorney not his intake paralegal.
