How should I receive compensation from a car accident?

A friend of mine did not have a car and asked if she could borrow mine. I had 2 cars so I agreed to let her use it. She thought the car was in reverse and hit the gas. She ran into a building and hit a brick wall. She totaled the car valued at. By law, is she required to pay me for the value of the car?

She is not required by law to pay for the value of the car. If your insurance covers drivers other than yourself, they will be able to pay for your vehicle.

Your insurance will cover this, but then she can be sued by the insurance company for what is called subrogation as she is ultimately responsible for her negligent conduct. You can not turn it in to your insurance and sue her directly. Will probably cost you a friend though.
